In the past, the Korean scientific community avoided working with creationists due to the fear of giving the movement more credibility. However, silence is no longer an option.
The STR has been fighting to eliminate the content on evolution from textbooks, including the discovery that the feathered Archaeopteryx was an ancestral bird. This is only one aspect of how the concept of development has changed.
What is Evolution?
The theory of evolution is a scientific one that explains the changes in genetic characteristics of living organisms over time. The theory is based on the fact that living things adapt to their environment and this can lead to changes in genes, or even entire genomes. These changes could over generations result in the development of new species. The prevailing theory of evolution is known as natural selection, which explains the process through which people with advantages survive and reproduce more frequently than those with less favorable characteristics. In time, this disparity in reproduction can lead to the development of entirely new species.
The term "evolution" originates from Latin for revealing or unrolling has been used in many different ways as the concept has evolved in both science and in other fields. Some early evolutionists, like Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and Erasmus Darwin (Charles's grandfather) believed that the existing species changed into other species in a certain way. Etienne Geoffroy St.Hilaire was Lamarck's embryologist pupil who coined the term "transmutation" to describe this view. Charles Lyell, in his Principles of Geology, published in 1833, criticized the concept of evolution and borrowed the term from Geoffroy's student.
Evolutionary biologists define it more recently as a process by which living creatures develop traits to improve their chances of survival or producing offspring. Over time, genetic variability can cause a population acquire new physical traits or biological functions. The shift in gene frequency is called natural selection, and it is the main driver of evolutionary change. However other changes that are not genetic, such as the growth in muscle mass from diet or exercise cannot be considered to be examples of evolution since they are not inherited by future generations.
Creationists make the argument that evolution is controversial even though it has been proven true by thousands of scientific tests and that it has been tested over time. They argue that the concept should not be taught in schools. In South Korea, creationists won a few victories against evolution in textbooks for high schools. This includes the removal of references to the evolutionary roots of humans as well as Archaeopteryx - a feathered dino believed to be the ancestor of birds.

In South Korea, a group known as the Society for Textbook Revise (STR), an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research is pushing for the elimination of textbook content about the evolution of horses as well as the Avian ancestral Archaeopteryx.
It is vital to remember, however, that the evidence in support of evolution is overwhelming. The evidence comes from a wide variety of sources, including fossils, genetic studies, and the behavior of living organisms. Other scientists independently verify the evidence.

What is Creationism?
Creationists believe that God created everything in the universe. They also believe the Bible is God's word and should be taken literally. Many creationists are Christians However, not all. Creationists are typically divided into two categories: Young Earth Creationists (YEC) or old earth creationists.
The YECs are perhaps the most well known type of creationist and they believe that God created the world exactly as described in the Bible. 에볼루션 사이트 believe that the biblical account of the creation's six days is true, and that the universe and the life on Earth began only recently.
OECs are not as well-known however they are just as passionate about their beliefs as YECs. OECs believe the universe and Earth are billions of years old, and that evolution is a lie.
Both forms of creationism reject the notion that scientific principles such as natural selection and abiogenesis could explain the origins of life on Earth. They claim that evolution is impossible, because it would require miracles. The founders of modern scientific thought resisted miracles in fear that they would lose their credibility.
Some creationists accept naturalistic evolutionary as well as special creation. They refer to their belief as "theistic evolution." It is sometimes known as "continuous creationism" or "evolution from the created species." In this view, God creates the original species and allows them to evolve over time. These evolutionary changes eventually will result in new species that are similar to the original.
Some creationists believe that God created all living things and the universe in one event called the Great Flood. Creationists believe that all the original species were created at the same time and that they gradually evolved. They deny the notion of abiogenesis, and argue that self-replicating living cannot come from nonliving matter.
In general, creationists are against teaching evolution in schools. This position is supported by a myriad of professional associations which include the National Science Teachers Association, the Association for Science Teacher Education, the American Anthropological Association, and the Geological Society of America. However, certain academic institutions and scientists are more flexible, and allow the inclusion of both evolution and creationism in their curriculum.
What exactly is Creationism in Korea?
When people think of the concept of the concept of creationism, a lot think of the United States. South Korea also has an anti-evolutionist group. Publishers of high school textbooks have recently announced that they will eliminate references to evolution from their books. A group called the Society for Textbook Revise (STR) is an independent organization that is an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research, has led the drive. The STR has won its first victory by removing from textbooks the evidence of the evolution and ancestor of an avian, the Archeopteryx. It is now focusing on removing excerpts from Darwin's notorious finch research as well as on human evolution as well.
STR claims to have the support of around 4,000 families and individuals. Its mission, it states, is to rid the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" that paints a negative view for students. It also seeks to counter the influence of American creationists in the country. A survey of the newest biology teachers found that about half do not believe in the concept of evolution. The reasons for this aren't entirely evident, but they could be due to religion or the absence of creation scientists in the United States.
The KACR has accomplished a lot through its lectures and seminar events. It publishes a bimonthly magazine, Creation, and has published books. Among these is a textbook on the natural sciences, with an evolutionary perspective that sparked interest in college communities. In 1991, a professor and minister began teaching Creation Science in one university, and it continues to be taught to this day.
On August 6th and 7th of 1993, KACR hosted a second International Symposium on Creation Research. The event was held in conjunction with the opening of the World Expo in Daejeon. Six lecturers from abroad, including ICR's John Morris and Steven Austin presented to a crowd of more than a thousand. KACR members and KACR have also given talks on creation science in major seminaries. KACR plans to create a Creation Science Education Center in the near future.
